WHAT SYMPTOMS MIGHT INDICATE FEEDING DIFFICULTIES?

  • Lip blisters

  • Poor weight gain

  • Causing nipple pain or damage

  • Refusing breast/bottle

  • Milk dribbling from corners of mouth

  • Clicking/squeaking noises while feeding

  • Difficulty accepting solids at 6-7 months

  • Difficulty progressing to soft solids by 8-9 months

  • Coughing/choking during feeding

  • Gagging or vomiting

  • Difficulty drinking from an open cup or straw by 12-18 months

  • Limited variety of foods

  • Difficulty chewing food

  • Frequent offerstuffing of mouth

  • Frequent spitting of foods

  • Extended mealtimes (> 30 minutes)

WHAT ARE THE RISK FACTORS FOR FEEDING DISORDERS IN CHILDREN?

  • Prematurity

  • Low muscle tone 

  • Severe reflux

  • Laryngomalacia and tracheomalacia

  • Head shape differences

  • Torticollis/head turn preference

  • Structural differences (such as recessed jaw, tongue/lip/cheek ties)

  • Developmental delays

  • Food allergies and/or sensitivities

  • Constipation

  • Cardiorespiratory condition

WHICH AREAS DO YOU SERVE?

  • Greater Seattle area: Available for all services via clinic, in-home, and virtual appointments. My clinic is conveniently located in downtown Edmonds. In-home appointments are available with additional travel fees based on distance.

  • Washington state (Outside of Seattle area): Available for feeding therapy and caregiver consultation services via virtual appointments.

  • Worldwide: Available for caregiver consultation services via virtual appointments.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

Currently, we are an out-of-network provider. Occupational therapy services are often covered by out-of-network benefits. We recommend contacting your insurance company to learn about reimbursement benefits. If requested, I will provide an itemized “superbill” that will provide all the necessary information you need for reimbursement, including diagnostic and treatment codes. Payment is collected on the day of service. We accept cash, check, or credit card including HSA and FSA cards.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you are unable to attend the session, please email or call to cancel and/or reschedule at least 48 hours in advance, or you will be charged for the full session rate.
